In the Province of Sultan Kudarat on Mindanao, is where you can find Tacurong City “The City of GoodWill”. Tacurong derived from the word “Talakudong” of which “kudong” means “salakot” or the Native brimmed hat. Despite being the smallest in terms of land area.Tacurong is the only urbanized place in the province.It has a lot of tourist destinations to explore, delicious food to try and their colorful celebration is a must-see.

You may visit Baras Bird Sanctuary one of the popular attractions in Tacurong. The sanctuary covers a half hectares of land and estimated around 20000 birds already migrated here. That’s why it’s been declared as a Bird Sanctuary and eco-tourism destination. The perfect time to visit here is before sunset where at that time you shall witness the different flocks seemingly competing.

Aside from Bird Sanctuary, they are also have a zoo here in Tacurong City. It is said to be the largest zoo in southern Philippines. The zoo has some Camels, Donkey, Ostrich, Crocodiles and Tiger. They have rare species of animals that you can only see here. They even have different types of birds.

Meanwhile Tacurong City is celebrating their Talakudong Festival, kudong was used in this festival not because of their source of income but because it is said that it is what the ancient people used so many years ago. September is the month of celebration for Talakudong Festival. And the highlight of this celebration is the “street dancing competition” participated by the different schools. They showcase their various designs and colorful kudong. It also shows how rich and colorful is the culture of this place.
