Sultan Kudarat: Provincial Capitol - Isulan

The Province of Sultan Kudarat, located in the southwest of the island of Mindanao, and the capital of Sultan Kudarat is Isulan. This is the province where Provincial Capitol was situated. Provincial Capitol is the place of government of the Sultan Kudarat. The design for this seat of provincial capitol was influence by local and Islamic architecture. The five-story building is mostly white, with a golden dome that soars to the sky. Local art and culture are on display too, with ceilings are adorned with festive gold and orange designs, and woodwork highlighting mother-of-pearl inlay.

The building sits at the heart of a large complex. An extensive green lawn stretches out from the capitol, and is home to a golden statue of Sultan Muhammad Dipatuan Kudarat, after whom the province was named. Sultan Kudarat was a Muslim leader who ruled in the Sultanate of Maguindanao from 1625 to 1671. During his reign, he successfully fought off Spanish invasions and halted the spread of Catholicism on the island of Mindanao, much like the other Muslim rulers in the southern Philippines.




How to go to Sultan Kudarat Provincial Capitol?


From General Santos City terminal take a bus bound to Koronadal City. After 1 hour of travel time, you will arrive in Koronadal City Bus terminal, then take another bus to Isulan Sultan Kudarat. There is no entrance fee in entering the Provincial Capitol.
